Is there accomodation nearby?
Yes, the Gold Creek Tourist Resort is conveniently located across the road from the venue.

Is there a discount for accommodation?
Please contact reservations for enquiries on rates and availability.

Is the bridal table skirted?
Yes, we provide white skirting for the bridal table, cake table and the gift table. There is maximum of 3 available.

How many guests can fit at each table?
The tables at The Abbey are 1.8m in diameter and seat up to 10 guests.

Who sets up the decorations for the day?
The function team is more than happy to set up your decorations for you, provided that detailed and clear instructions are given. You are also welcome to set up the decorations yourself, depending upon venue availability. If the venue is not available before the day, access to the venue will be from 9:00am.

When is final payment due?
Final payment is required two weeks prior to your reception. Beverages must also be paid for at this time.

Who sets up and packs down the venue?
The function coordinators set up the room to your requirements. We require your seating plan at least one week prior to your reception to ensure the final guest count and set up sheet can be completed. The wait staff at your reception will pack down the function, and any decorations can be picked up the following week.

Can I personally design the menu?
We welcome your ideas and input for your wedding menu

Can we do a tasting of our chosen menu?
Versatile Restaurant is available to sample our service and style of food. We do not offer specific wedding menu tastings. Should you love the meals at Versatile, we are happy to replicate the dishes for your reception.

Is there a discount at Versatile Restaurant?
Yes, each bride and groom receives a 10% discount at Versatile. Please advise Versatile staff of your event date and venue to ensure your discount.

Do your staff hold current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificates?
Yes, the team at Functions @ Federation & The Abbey practice the Responsible Service of Alcohol. All of our staff hold current RSA Certificates and reserve the right to refuse service to any guest we believe to be intoxicated. Our liquor license prohibits the selling of beverages past midnight.

When do you need final numbers and dietary requirements?
Final numbers and dietary requirements must be finalised two weeks before the reception. Guest numbers cannot fall below this number past this point, however more can be added if required.

What happens if the final number falls below the minimum guest requirement?
The final charge will be the minimum guest requirement for the venue. Changes to the beverage package is allowable.

What are accepted methods of payment?
We accept payments in the way of cash, bank cheques or electronic transfer. If you make payments via EFT we request that a post transfer receipt be e-mailed to to assist us in cross referencing with our accounts department.

Are there any hidden or additional costs?
No. The price you pay is the quoted per person charge, and any additional extras that you request. There are no hidden charges. Your invoice will show itemised charges for each of these costs.

Is the booking fee refundable once it has been paid?
No, the booking fee is not refundable at any stage once it has been paid.

What are the cancellation charges?
If the cancellation is 12 months prior, there are no additional charges (the booking fee is already forfeit). If the event is cancelled for any reason between 30 and 7 working days of the event – 50% of the total estimated cost for the event will be payable within 5 working days of your notification of cancellation. If the event is cancelled for any reason less than 7 working days of the event – 75% of the total estimated cost for the event will be payable within 5 working days of your notification of cancellation.

What happens if the reception goes over time?
We suggest the bride and groom vacate the function approximately 30 minutes before the conclusion of the evening. This will prompt guests to leave by the end time. Should guests remain past the scheduled end time, the staff will begin to clean and pack down the function.

Is there a contact person on the day if there are any issues?
Yes, a knowledgable and qualified manager will be present at your event for any issues that may arise.

Can we bring our own beverages?
No, we do not allow any beverages to be brought onto the premises. If you have any special requests please let us know and we will do our best to cater for you. We reserve the right to remove any beverages not provided by the Function Centre.

Can we bring our own cake?
Yes, you are more than welcome to supply your own wedding cake. We recommend using a professional cake provider. The Abbey can also supply a range of cakes from our in house bakery, we are happy to discuss your cake needs please call to talk to our friendly staff.

How is the cake served?
The cake can be served for dessert, or cut and placed in cake bags for your guests to take home at the end of the evening. The cake bags must be supplied prior to your reception.

Can we bring our own music?
Yes, we have a sound system available for use.

Are the drinks ordered from the bar?
Guests are welcome to approach the bar, however each package does include table service by our experienced wait staff.

What are the parking arrangements?
There is ample free parking available at the venue.

Is there wheelchair or disabled access?

Are there highchairs available?
Yes, we do have 4 highchairs available.

Can the Bride and Groom choose which meal they will be served on the night?
Yes, the Bride and Groom do have a choice the menu options, however the remaining members on the bridal party will be served alternatively.
